International Childhood Cancer Day

3 ways YOU can take action

February 15 is International Childhood Cancer Day and Kids Cancer Care is partnering with children’s cancer organizations from around the world to take action for children affected by cancer.

Please act now and call on governments and international development organizations to recognize the needs of children and adolescents with cancer to ensure better access to care for children everywhere.

Together, we honour the courage of children and young adults affected by cancer and take a stand to change the course of this disease.

  1. RIDE SOMEWHERE MEANINGFUL in the Kids Cancer Care Cycle Challenge. A premier, all-inclusive, three-day cycling tour through the Alberta Foothills. Enjoy scenic routes with other cyclists by day and recover around the campfire at Camp Kindle by night. Save with early bird pricing until February 28.  
  2. PURCHASE A COURAGE BRACELET to show your courage. Designed with love by a bereaved sibling in honour of International Childhood Cancer Day, each bracelet will be customized to your wrist size and with your child’s name or another child’s name. Bracelets are $40 each with proceeds going to Kids Cancer Care. 
  3. LEAVE A MESSAGE ON THE TREE OF LIFE for International Childhood Cancer Day. Kids Cancer Care is partnering with Childhood Cancer International and Childhood Cancer Care in the 2024 Tree of Life and we hope you’ll join us too. Visit the digital Tree of Life and create a colourful handprint with a message of hope for children affected by cancer from around the world.

Join the fight against childhood cancer and get involved during the month of September

September is Childhood Cancer Awareness month and Kids Cancer Care is joining pediatric cancer groups across North America to draw attention to the tragedy of childhood cancer. We’re inviting you to join us in this growing movement and to do one thing in the fight against childhood cancer this September.

  1. ROCK YOUR LOCKS at our community Big Brave event and cut, colour, or shave your lid for a kid while raising funds for our essential programs.
  2. GET A HAIRCUT at a Great Clips salon. Top up your bill with a donation to Kids Cancer Care and receive a $5 coupon off your next haircut.
  3. JUMP FOR A CURE at Extreme Skydive Calgary at the Beiseker airport and raise funds for children affected by cancer.
  4. BECOME A MONTHLY DONOR and a superhero in the life of a child with cancer for the price of a monthly Netflix subscription! Monthly gifts add up over time and make a lasting impact.
  5. GO GOLD! Visit one of the many buildings or landmarks in Alberta that are lighting up gold. Take a picture and share it on social to let the world know it’s Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. Don’t forget to tag Kids Cancer Care.
