YOUR gift today will help shape tomorrow’s leaders!
Meet Chan! When he was 10 years old, he was diagnosed with cancer. While the cancer journey was tough on Chan and his family, he remains grateful and optimistic. Thanks to the incredible support of the Kids Cancer Care community, Chan sees his cancer ordeal as a blessing, transforming it into an opportunity for growth. Even while dealing with primary immunodeficiency—a serious long-term side effect of treatment—Chan still wouldn’t change a thing. “It was a very scary experience, but I feel fortunate,” he says. “Everything I’ve gained through Kids Cancer Care—the experiences and opportunities—far outweighs my treatment.” That’s why, these days, Chan is paying it forward for other kids with cancer. He’s a 2026 Kids Cancer Care spokeskid and is looking forward to graduating from high school in June. Chan hopes to work as a camp counsellor at Camp Kindle this summer, and in the fall, he plans to study computer science and AI with the help of a Kids Cancer Care Derek Wandzura Memorial Scholarship. Chan also imagines a day when his name will appear on the donor wall at camp, supporting life-changing camp experiences for tomorrow’s children.
