Teen Leadership

Developing tomorrow’s leaders

The Kids Cancer Care Teen Leadership Program (TLP) is for teens ages 15 to 17 (or 18 if the participant is in grade 12) who have been affected by childhood cancer. Patients, survivors, siblings and bereaved siblings enjoy opportunities to develop as leaders through self-reflection, peer support, skill building, volunteerism and a service trip.

Teens meet monthly throughout the school year to develop and practice skills in communication, organization, responsibility and public speaking. The teens engage in volunteer work at Kids Cancer Care programs as well as other local non-profits. TLP culminates in a travel project, where teens raise funds and awareness to undertake meaningful community development work in their own community or abroad. In the past the teens have taken part in building part of a school, building homes, visiting a shelter with kids going through cancer, teaching Canadian Culture in a different country and they have even worked bedside in a pediatric oncology hospital abroad.

RBC is a proud supporter of the Teen Leadership Program.
