Welcome to SunHavenSunHaven is a
five-day summer camp run by the Kids Cancer Care Foundation
of Alberta (KCCFA). The camp is uniquely designed for
children ages seven to 17 who have a parent with cancer. The
programs and activities help foster friendships and
self-confidence in a supportive, team-based environment.
It’s a place where kids can set aside their worries for a
week of fun and laughter with children in similar
circumstances.
Where is SunHaven?
SunHaven takes place at KCCFA’s Camp Kindle, which is
situated on 160 acres of rolling pasture in the Rocky
Mountain Forest Reserve. The camp is just outside the town
of Water Valley, 83 kilometres northwest of Calgary and 280
kilometres south of Edmonton.
Who will look after my child at camp?
The Kids Cancer Care Foundation has a 20-year history of
providing memorable camp experiences for Alberta children
affected by cancer. Our camp counsellors are professionally
trained and fully experienced. A fulltime registered nurse
is on hand 24/7 to ensure the health and safety of campers
and our low camper-to-staff ratio makes for a positive
experience for all.
What will my child do at camp?
Your child will take part in a range of age-appropriate
activities, from arts and crafts to hiking, archery,
swimming, campfire sing songs, orienteering, high ropes
course, wetland studies, survival skills and animal games.
How old should my child be?
Your child must be between the ages of seven and 17.
How much does it cost?
SunHaven is free for Alberta children who have a parent with
cancer. Camp includes all meals, accommodation,
transportation (to and from pickup points in Calgary),
supervision and programs.
What are the dates?
