Since its inception in 1999, KCCFA’s research program has made important inroads in creating a world centre for pediatric cancer research here in Alberta. Here are some of our research milestones:

In 2002, the Foundation spearheaded the creation of the Kids Cancer Care Foundation Chair in Pediatric Oncology at the University of Calgary.
KCCFA was also instrumental in creating the Hughes Children’s Cancer Research Centre (HCCRC) at the University of Calgary, a veritable hub of research activity.
In 2010, KCCFA made a $2.5 million commitment to support collaborative research in experimental and applied therapeutics at the Alberta Children’s Hospital, University of Calgary and the Southern Alberta Cancer Research Institute.
Each year, the Foundation supports new and ongoing research through a competitive research granting program, ensuring that Alberta scientists can continue the quest for a cure for childhood cancer. The KCCFA grant program is temporarily suspended from 2010 to 2015, while the Foundation fulfills its commitment to the experimental and applied therapeutics program at the Alberta Children’s Hospital.
