Foundation of Alberta, Christine McIver is
responsible for the leadership and management of the
Foundation. Beginning this work in the basement of
her home in 1988, Christine has devoted her
volunteer and working life to children's cancer

Trish Matheson, CFRE,
Director of Development & Communications
Working with Kids Cancer Care staff and volunteers,
Trish Matheson is responsible for managing the
fundraising and communication of the Foundation.
Her focus is building relationships with the people

Mike MacKay,
Director of Camp & Community
Mike MacKay is responsible for Kids Cancer Care’s
Camp & Community programs. He works with a team
of committed staff and volunteers to provide support
to families affected by childhood cancer.

Sharlene Coulter,
Manager of Volunteers
Sharlene Coulter is responsible for Kids Cancer Care’s
volunteer program, which supports the activities of
our Fund Development and Camp & Community teams.
Her role includes recruiting, screening, training
and recognizing more than 160 active volunteers. More |

Janessa DeCoste,
Nursing Coordinator
Janessa first became involved with Kids Cancer Care
as a nursing volunteer and is now the nursing coordinator
at Camp Kindle. She brings years of nursing and camp
experience to her role. For the last seven years,
Janessa has worked at summer camps for children and
adults who thrive in a specialized camp setting. More |

Jillian Edmonds,
Event Specialist
Jillian Edmonds manages the Kids Cancer Care
events team and is responsible for planning,
executing and evaluating Kids Cancer Care’s
fundraising events, including the Dad & Daughter Gala,
the Parents’ Quest for the Cure Gala and the Ride for a Lifetime.

Lauren Ellis,
Community Initiatives Coordinator
Lauren Ellis is responsible for enhancing
community partnerships, which raise funds for
Kids Cancer Care. Central to her position is
the coordination of the Tour for Kids Alberta
cycling event in July, which raises money to
send kids to camp. More |

Manager of Individual & Corporate Giving
Karen has worked in the charitable sector for six
years in various fund development roles, from donor
research to event management. More

Joan Ganley,
Administrative Coordinator
Joan brings more than 30 years of administrative and
customer service experience to Kids Cancer Care. She
oversees the administrative operations for the
Foundation, including database management, tax
receipting, office administration, and event
support.

Marketing & Communications Coordinator
Ashlee is responsible for supporting the communications
manager in a variety of initiatives. Central to her
position is managing the Kids Cancer Care website,
social media sites and promoting Kids Cancer Care’s
signature events. Ashlee is also responsible for
marketing Camp Kindle to outside user-groups. More |

Camp Maintenance Manager
Dacia Lashmore is responsible for all the delicious
meals prepared at Camp Kindle as well as the cleaning.
She has a passion for cooking and it shows in the homemade
and nutritious meals she creates.

Emma has worked in the non-profit sector for five
years in various roles, from communications to
event management and fundraising. As development
manager at Kids Cancer Care, Emma is responsible

Manager of Community Initiatives
Candice Martin has been with Kids Cancer Care since
2004 and is responsible for building the Foundation’s
community initiatives. Candice enjoys enhancing and
cultivating relationships with our existing community
partners, while raising awareness of Kids Cancer Care in the community.

Family Liaison
Mary Phillipo is our family liaison coordinator,
linking families to the Kids Cancer Care Foundation
and other programs and services in the community.
She is the primary contact for Kids Cancer Care families
and introduces them to the many programs and services we offer. More |

Tracey Stahn specializes in providing therapeutic
recreational programs to families and children
