KCC chair in pediatric oncology
The Kids Cancer Care Foundation Chair in Pediatric
Oncology is the largest funded oncology chair of its kind in
Canada. Worth $8 million, the endowed chair at the
University of Calgary is designed to attract a cancer
scientist of international stature who will build a
world-class childhood cancer research program in Alberta.
The prestigious chair holder will advance basic,
translational and clinical research by promoting
interdisciplinary research and hospital care and by
attracting the world’s brightest students, fellows, research
associates and faculty members to the province.
Held by Dr. Max Coppes from 2002 to 2005, the chair is
currently vacant. A committee of cancer experts from the
University of Calgary and the Alberta Children’s Hospital is
currently recruiting a new chair.
